Traditional Wedding in Bhutan 6Nights 7Days

 

Day1. Arrival at Paro International Airport, drive to Thimphu (1-hour drive)

  • You will be received by representative
  • Drive through the scenic view.  Stop at the 15th century temple for short walk through the Iron chain bridge.
  • Lunch at the restaurant
  • We suggest to buy a traditional outfit known as Gho and Kira for the wedding couple
  • Easy afternoon
  • Evening Tea
  • Dinner at hotel

Day2. Drive to Punakha Via Dochula pass, 3050 meter from sea level (take 3hour)

 

  • Visit oldest Dzong/fortress, Semtokha Dzong  built in 1629 by Zhabdrung a father of unifier in 17th century.
  • Drive to Punakha with beautiful forest and mountains
  • Soon reach to Dochula pass , 3050meter from sea-level, one of the most beautiful pass in the country. 
  • In a clear day you will see all the Himalaya from the pass
  •  Druk wangyel temple and walk around the 108 stupa
  • Tea /coffee /lunch at the cafeteria on the pass
  • Continue your journey to Punakha, the subtropical vegetation.
  • Enjoy beautiful village view and enjoy the farm land of the local people
  • Photo Stop for the beautiful rice field
  • Evening Tea
  • Check in the hotel
  • Dinner at the hotel

 

Day3. Ritual and traditional wedding ceremony with locals for whole day

  • A group of monks including priest arrive for the day with red robes and chanting from far away temple
  • Host family serve them breakfast and butter tea, they ‘re all excited to meet the bride and groom
  • Followed by villagers with their fine dress and colorful outfit
  • Some would help into cooking, help to make a traditional noodles, girls usually does serving the guests
  • Elderly men and women seat by the side and chant the prayers for your successful marriage
  • People started laughing, smiling, eating, drinking and enjoy for a whole day
  • You could buy the traditional outfit to impress the whole villagers
  • Bride and groom be seated at the shrine with a higher priest for the blessings
  • After blessing, people line up with scarf to wish their prayers
  • After lunch, enjoy own your own with the locals and traditional activities
  • Evening folk dance with the campfire by the locals
  • Enjoy last dinner with locals
  • Check in the hotel

 

Day4.  Visit Magnificent Punakha Dzong and water rafting

  • Stop for the beautiful view of the Punakha Dzong at the male and female river meeting
  • Visit Punakha Dzong  built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, the second oldest in Bhutan.
  • Punakha is still used as the winter capital of Monastic body, during winter 1000 monk’s shift to Punakha from Thimphu because Thimphu is very cold.
  • Hike to Khamsum yuelay Namgyel chorten through the farm houses and rive field
  • Lunch
  • River rafting against the beautiful Dzong of Punakha, it is fun and adventurous
  • Several stop for the photos
  • If time permits, visit sangchen Dorji choling nunnery at the beautiful location
  • Dinner at the hotel

Day5. Drive to Paro, leisure walk in Paro town.(5 hours)

  • Drive to Paro via beautiful Dochula pass, another chance to see the snow capped Himalaya
  • Stop at the cafeteria for hot tea/coffee
  • Lunch at local restaurant
  • Leisure walk at Paro town for shopping
  • Check in the hotel
  • Evening Tea
  • Dinner at hotel

Day6. Paro valley spiritual day excursion to Tiger Nest.

  • Hike to taktsang monastery takes 7-8 hours or whole day including photo stop and lunch at the cafeteria
  • 800 meter climb from valley floor
  • moderate - hard, drink lot of water
  • carry enough water
  • Riding ponies are available at their own cost
  • 1hour to first view point, where there is cafeteria
  • People who cannot walk, stay at the cafeteria enjoy the beautiful view of monastery with tea/coffee
  • Continue to monastery another 2 hours walk
  • Reach to second view point, be careful with steep steps
  • Beautiful photo points from second point
  • Visit monastery, no camera and mobile phone inside the temple
  •  After visit monastery walk back for lunch to cafeteria
  • After lunch walk down to car park
  • Drive to hotel
  • Evening Tea
  • Dinner at the hotel

Day7. DrukAir departs early, after breakfast, your guide and driver will see you off at the airport. You need to check in two hours before departure
